Work-life is a huge part of who we are and how we spend our time as a working mom. Have you ever considered making your career fit the life that you want to live? After 2020, many of us were able to find more flexible work situations that we didn’t have before. But did you know that there are many of other ways of finding flexible work that fits your life? In this episode, I am joined by Kathryn Sollmann a career coach that specializes in helping women find work that fits their life.

Action Items and Tips From the Show
- First, know what kind of flexibility you are looking for in your work. There are several kinds of flexibility from work hours, work location, and workload. From there, look at the six different kinds of having that flexibility (from part-time work to job sharing) if you want a paycheck from an employer and the 7th option is to start your own business.
- Once you have decided the kind of work that will fit your life, the next step is to get it. Start with where you are. Have an open conversation with your boss with what you would like to do and be prepared to show them how it will benefit the company. Be open to a trial period to show how you can deliver the results while still having flexibility.
- If you decide to take on the second job of finding a new career path, the best thing you can do is network, network and network even more. This is the key to find flexible opportunities that aren’t as broadly advertised and to get insider info on which companies truly have flexible work cultures. If you decide to go that route, check out Kathryn’s website for resources.
