Paper tends to be one of the biggest issues when it comes to clutter.  Simply have a place in your house where you store paper until you are ready to deal with it and have a day of the week when you schedule time to deal with it.  I did a YouTube video on this topic to show you my paper system.  You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/QtoJ-qp_yBk
  2. Create new habits to help you deal with clutter.
    • Pick up 20 things in the morning and at night
    • Get in the habit of weekly planning and cleaning

What to do when you are setting the same goals over and over again:

  • Know that there is something for you on the other side for you.  
  • Believe that you can actually achieve the goal
  • What are you really wanting?  Change the perspective of your goal.  Instead of going for a weight loss goal, maybe it is better for you to focus on body measurements.

If you don’t have a weight loss goal, what should you focus on for your health?

  • There are three main things to focus on:
    • Blood Sugar
      • Get your blood work done so you know where you are at.
    • Inflammation
      • Avoid refined grains and sugars
    • Gut Health
      • Focus on diversity of fruits and vegetables
      • Take a daily probiotic or eat fermented food

Find your motivation for your health goal

  • Find the right strategy for you.  Not everyone is the same.
  • Find accountability for your goals.
  • Focus on your habits (good habits are a key to reaching your goal)

In this episode, we are talking about 3 reasons why it’s important to set goals for the new year (even if you are nervous about doing it), plus, 3 ways you can enter into goal setting in a careful way.  If you are like me, I find myself setting some of the same goals over and over and getting stuck.  Doubt, skeptical, loss of hope…but it doesn’t have to be that way!  Listen and learn what to do if you find yourself in that same spot.

Why Setting Goals Are Important

  1. To set a goal is to pray for something.  When we set goals with God in mind, we are presenting the desire of our hearts to him.  The Bible tells us to pray….about everything and not to give up in our prayer.
  2. Goals give you a direction.  Life is not stagnant.  We are always moving in a direction and without a goal and a plan…you might end up where you really don’t want to be.
  3. Goals set a good example to those around us.  AKA, your kids.

Be careful with your goals.

  1. Don’t let your goal become an idol.  
  2. Set yourself up for success or change your goal.  If you have more reasons not to do what is necessary to reach the goal than you have to reach the goal, you are sabotaging yourself before you even begin.
  3. Hold your goals loosely and if God wants to do something different, let him.

This episode is very foundational on how you can actually create more balance in your life as a working mom.  We are talking about the 3 principles to create balance in your life: Faith, community, and systems. We are also talking about how to figure out what balance looks like for you in the season of life that you are in.

How to define what balance looks like for you and the session of life you are in:

The best way to define what balance looks like for you, is to start to describe what it feels like when things are out of balance.  Then think if things were the opposite.  Now you have your definition of life balance and can start to apply the three princples to them.

The 3 principles of balance:

  1. Faith first- Above everything.  Just like Matthew 6:33 says, seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be given to you.  We need to move away from keeping faith in a box and as just part of our life.  If you want balance, it needs to be the filter in which the rest of your life works from.
  2. Community-Serve others and allow them to serve you.  It might be a prayer, or an act of kindess or just a listening ear.  When you open yourself up to others, your problems seem smaller and your burdens are lessend. 
  3. Systems- Often we are overwhelmed and exhausted because we lack systems in our life and we have decision fatigue.  The more you can opperate in auto-pilot with healthy habits that contribute to your goals, the more you will have energy to do the things that matter.  This is where Life Balance Membership really shines.  We teach you the systems to keep things moving forward in each area of your life.
