One of the things that I love so much about the Christmas season is that it is a time of giving and a time of year that we naturally look to those that are in need around us. But sometimes it can be overwhelming to think about how we can give and really make a difference in the lives of others.
In this episode, I’m sharing a different approach to giving than you might have thought of before. It was inspired by a sermon from my pastor, and specifically something he said that got caught in my mind. He was talking about the three different aspects to our soul. Our mind (or intellect), our heart (or emotions), and our will. I have been studying this for myself, and if you are interested…..here are a couple of links to get you started.
With this topic in mind, I started to think about how powerful it would be to pray specifically for healing, growth, or insight into these areas for people. And better yet, if I could find gifts that would support this for the people in my life. It really could make a lasting impact much further than an nice Christmas.
So, I took it a little further (because I tend to do that).
What if, I looked specifically at the areas of my life and was intentional about how I could be lifting up others.
You can do this to! In your notebook, write out the people (1-3) that you work with that you would like to lift up in prayer. Then think specifically about them and what you would be praying for their mind, their heart, and their will (decisions).
Then do the same for your immediate family, your extended family and friends, and your community.
If you can find physical gifts that support this, awesome! If not, think about how you can give to the greater community, like the homeless in ways that would support them in these areas.
But really, don’t underestimate the power of praying. It is the best gift you can give someone this holiday season.
