How are your New Years Resolutions going? Here on the Your Life Rocks Podcast, we tend to focus more on intentions than resolutions because we want to live fully in God’s will. Intentions allow room for God to grow and challenge us. That being said, let’s check in with some of our health goals so far. Health is about far more than a certain diet or avoiding specific foods. We know that good health is found in a holistic lifestyle. After all, God doesn’t care about what size we are or the number we see on the scale. He cares more about our intention and care we are placing in our health.

Allison and I are going to tackle so many areas of life that can lead to Mom Guilt. We are talking stress, time management, and nutrition! How do those three play together, and why do their combined forces make it so difficult to get our lives back in order?

God doesn’t care what size we are. We need to fuel ourselves so we can do the works God has prepared for us.

Before we go a step further, our Verse of the Week is found in Ephesians 2:10

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Allison and I are going to chat about how nutrition plays an important role in fueling our bodies for the work we were created to do. Making time for your health is so important, but Allison reminds us gently that there are seasons for everything. Some days we might not be Super Mom, and some days we are!

The biggest healthy eating roadblocks are oftentimes the time it takes to prep a meal for your family, and figuring out how to include more healthy foods in it. Allison starts us off with a simple approach: look at your shopping cart. What is your ratio of vegetables to healthy proteins? How much of the food is processed and how much of it is whole? I love this step because you can easily get your kids involved in the process.

Allison also gives her suggestions for making meals from scratch. It is less about whether the meal is “healthy” but if the ingredients are whole and it tastes delicious! She also suggests reducing the gluten load to see if that helps. When you do, pay attention to how you feel throughout the day. Food can transform how you feel.

Prep Dish is all about time management. Allison’s process is directive, and it turns meal prep into a no-brainer. Allison is making it easy to have a plan well before dinnertime. A small investment of time at the beginning of your week can save you so much energy later in the week! Gathering together at the table is an easy way to build up intentional time with your family as well as some healthy eating habits. If you abide by some simple guidelines, your road to excellent health will be smooth.
